Bueno hace ya unos cuantos meses que se sabía que Square Enix tenía previsto su asalto a la vieja Europa a través de alguna distribuidora con problemas. En su día como decimos se anuncio que los nipones se hacían con Eidos Interactive por una cuantiosa suma de dinero y pasaba a llamarse Square Enix Europe. Todo esto que parece tan sencillo contarlo ha llevado un tiempo consumarlo y hoy se anuncia definitivamente. Videojuegos en desarrollo como Thief 4, Just Cause 2 y el «próximo» Deus Ex saldrán con este sello. Quien lo habría dicho hace un tiempo. La globalización y sus cositas. Próximamente ladrones con grandes ojos y protagonistas genéticamente traumatizados. El horror.

Looks like the assimilation is now complete. Square Enix announced today that Eidos Interactive has been rebranded as Square Enix Europe, rounding out the transition that began with Eidos’ acquisition back in March.

«Today marks a major achievement towards the goals we announced in July and represents the creation of an efficient and powerful structure for game development and publishing,» said Square Enix Europe president and CEO Phil Rogers.

«We have a formidable product-line up which truly showcases the diversity of our exceptional gaming brands.»

Square Enix Europe will encompass offices in the UK, France and Germany, all of which will work together to promote the publisher’s interests in the PAL territories. The Eidos acquisition has thus far paid off handsomely for Square Enix Europe, with Batman: Arkham Asylum selling nearly 2 million units barely a month after launch.

Upcoming Eidos games include Thief 4, Just Cause 2 and Deus Ex. Expect Just Cause 2 next year.
